Beneath the Lid: GlossyBox December 2012

This month GlossyBox welcomes us ‘To the dazzling bejewelled Christmas GlossyBox’.  ‘The festive celebrations December GlossyBox is jam packed with indulgent treats to please even the most critical of beauty connoisseurs’.

Lets go beneath the lid……

Rituals
Magic Touch (70m Full size-£5.00)

‘An ultra-rich whipped body cream that intensively nourishes and firms the skin.  Combining rice milk, antioxidants, the indulgent fragrance of cherry blossom and velvety smooth texture, Rituals Magic Touch nourishes and strengthens the skin, while stimulating the senses’.

I love the smell of this!  Its very light and non greasy AND Horah didn’t bring me out in a rash like last months diabolical Mango Body Butter!  It leaves the skin feeling moisturised and mine seemed to drink it up, which I feel is always a good thing.  Think I shall be using this one a bit more.

Sebamed
Anti-Dry Night Intensive Cream (10ml-£1.99)

‘Sebamed protects the skin, calms flare-ups and restores equilibrium for improved elasticity- the perfect companion for these cold winter months’.

I’ve never heard of this brand before but the blurb says that the brand has long established itself as one of the leading skincare brands specially designed for sensitive skin?  Having been struck down with flu for the last two weeks my skin has decided to turn against me and give me one major big spot on my cheek (which no amount of concealer can cover).  The spot itself is now at the point of drying out and becoming crusty, so this product may be perfect.  I’ve tried a little bit of this cream; it feels very rich and seemed to disappear into my skin, im gonna keep going and hope to see some improvement- as nothing else seems to be working.

Mary Greenwell
Lemon (1.5ml- 13p)

‘Lemon unlike most citrus fragrances, the fresh citrus notes last on the skin’

Ohhhhh NO!!  A fragrance sample that unlike most fragrances, the granny smell lasts on your skin!!  The blurb doesn’t actually tell you much about the frangrence, more about Mary Greenwell, who is apparently one of the most sought after and influential make up artists, with a loyal following of celebrity clients? Okay then?!?!  Straight to the point- I don’t like it!  Luckily I sprayed it on my unsuspecting boyfriends wrist to try this and not my own (insert evil laugh here) and the first thing he said is that he spelt like an old woman!  I can’t really say much more.  It is a very floral/lemon musky smell and not one that a younger person would wear.  Big disappointment on the fragrance front compared to last months Burberry!

Sleek Makeup
True Colour Lipstick (3.5g Full size-£4.99)

‘With Vitamin E enriched formulas, Sleek MakeUp’s True Colour Lipstick range is a party season essential.  Perfect for when you want to make a bold statement’

I received colour 784- O.M.G!  This colour really is perfect if you want to make that bold statement they talk about!  It’s the perfect slutty red.  Funnily enough I have been after a nice red lipstick that suits my skin tone, but alas this is not the one!  However it does seem motorising on the lips, which is a good thing for this time of year but looking at the picture on the leaflet there are other shades I would have preferred to receive.

Seche
Seche Nail Lacquer (14ml Full Size- £9.95)

‘Available in 33 stunning, fashion-forward shades, Seche Nail Lacquer delivers on both style and substance.  The high intensity colour means one stroke leaves a strong pigmented and lasting colour’

I received the colour Hypnotic and I LOVE it!  It’s a dark royal blue with a iridescent shimmer- just my colour!  I love my Seche vite topcoat, it dries supa fast which is great for someone who is as impatient me, so with this being highly pigmented meaning your don’t need three layers for the gorgeous colour to shine, it seems to be the perfect companion.  I can’t wait to paint my nails later! :)

GlossyBox Blusher
Glossy Pink (2.5g-unknown value)

‘A colour intensive powder blush, velvety feeling with long-lasting colour that flatters all skin tones’

This is a ‘Bonus’ product in this months box.  It is very cute and the packaging is supa sweet.  The colour I received is Glossy Rosewood, which is a matt pinky rose colour (I don’t know if there are other colour variations?)  I don’t really wear blusher, so there’s not much I can say, but I will give it a go and see if a can become a blusher convert, as the colour does appear that it would suit my skin tone?

------------------------
Total Value of this months Box:
£22.06 (Not inc the bonus product)

So that’s this months GlossyBox.  A few hits, but mostly misses!  I’m disappointed by this month’s selection, especially after last months supa fab box!  Also this month it appears that there are a lot of box variations out there and compared to other people’s boxes this one just feels a bit ‘meh’!  Maybe I was expecting too much for a Christmas box?  Plus side I do love the silver box and starry packaging but unfortunately that alone wont win me over :(

Have you received Decembers GossyBox? What are you thoughts?
